AIR in G is a county-wide organisation that offers financial and practical support to individuals or organisations who wish to host performances at their local village hall, community centre or school.

Many people refrain from organising events because of worries that they might lose money or because they have little or no experience of booking artists and publicising events - AIR in G removes these hurdles.

AIR in G began work in 2001 and since then we have supported hundreds of events in over 80 different community venues throughout Gloucestershire. With the help of The Arts Council and the support of the County and all six District Councils we offer Promoters on the scheme a guarantee against loss. This guarantee means that if very few people attend an event AIR in G picks up the majority of the bill, but fortunately this is very rarely needed and nearly all events organised through AIR in G over years have been very successful.

Every May we produce a menu of events - at least twenty exciting and diverse performances from which Promoters can choose. They send in an application form and AIR in G then liases with the artists and organises a working timetable. When all dates are secure AIR in G produces a leaflet which is distributed throughout the County to promote the season. Many events have sold-out.

At one particular performance two couples who had not previously met before found themselves at the same table. They began to talk at the interval and ended up sharing a few jokes and a bottle of wine. At the end of the night they exchanged addresses only to discover they had been living next door to one another for eight years without meeting! Community events bring people together.
